For those fathers, mothers or youth mentors that have always
wanted to take a child on a hunting trip of their lifetime.
Backwoods Whitetails now offers both Youth Deer & Turkey hunt
with the youth hunter in mind.
\This hunt is conducted the first weekend (Saturday & Sunday) in
October preceding Columbus Day. Scoped shotguns with rifled
barrels or scoped in-line muzzle loading rifles may be used. One
buck of any size may be harvested on this hunt. Youth deer tags
can be purchased over the counter $10.50 and the youth hunter
will additionally need a 5 Day nonresident hunting license $57.75
and an IL state habitat stamp $5.50 unless the youth hunter
purchases and is hunting under the one time Illinois Youth
apprentice license. Only Youth hunters from ages 10 - 15 may
participate in the Early October Youth Firearm Hunt and it is
mandatory that a licensed parent or adult participant accompany
the youth hunter the entire time while hunting.

proper doe harvest is necessary to keep the whitetail herd in a healthy status. At
Backwoods Whitetails we have select properties in need of additional doe harvesting to
help ensure the doe population is kept in balance. With the Early & Late Season Archery
Youth Doe Program, youth hunters from ages 17 and under can harvest up to 3 whitetail
doe during their hunt. Sorry, NO BUCKS ARE ALLOWED TO BE HARVESTED AT THIS
TIME!! It IS NOT mandatory for youth hunters to be accompanied by an adult during this
hunt. Youth hunters will need a 5 day non-resident hunting license and will need to
purchase an archery doe permit for each deer to be harvested. Youth hunters must have
either successfully completed a state approved hunter safety course OR they may
purchase a one time Illinois youth hunter apprentice license where a licensed adult must
accompany the youth hunter for the entire time while hunting. Cost of Nonresident Archery
Tags are $25.00 each and can be purchased over the counter one permit at a time. Please
